Mablethorpe Sandracing Rules

Mablethorpe Sandracing Ltd operates by kind permission of East Lindsey District Council. We are allowed to race Motorcycles and Quads under licence and must adhere to the strict safety rules implemented by the Council. Any member found to be breaking the rules could have their membership terminated.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

All competitors MUST park on the beach or in the Dunes car park, IMPORTANT If you park in the Dunes car park, you must only park in a marked space and between the lines and pay and display. NOT in the car parks over the public highway, we are only insured for the beach area. Anyone ignoring this request will be excluded from the meeting. YOU MUST NOT AT ANY TIME RIDE YOUR MACHINE ON ANY PART OF THE PROMENADE OR ROAD. Disregarding this rule will disqualify you from any further meetings.

Pit Area

There will be a clearly marked riders only pit area on the beach. Vehicles can park up to the edge or you can pit on the outside edge of this area.The race order will be displayed on a sign infront of the start line.

.  HELMET MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES WHEN ON A MACHINE

  • ONLY SIGNED ON RIDERS can ride machines in the pit area and track.
  • STRICTLY NO PUBLIC ACCESS ALLOWED.
  • STRICTLY ALL MACHINES TO BE RIDDEN AT WALKING PACE ONLY IN THE PIT AREA.
  • STRICTLY NO SMOKING IN THE PITS.
  • NO POP UP GAZEBOS / INSTANT SHELTERS ALLOWED.

For New Members

All riders must become a member of Mablethorpe Sandracing and choose a rider number, (Click Here). Follow the link to Nora, and complete a race licence form (https://nora92.com/). Engines MUST NOT be run until after the briefing. A whistle will be blown to call you when ready for the briefing. After the briefing engines can be started and practice will start about ten minutes later. Classes will form up in their race order starting with the Juniors, then Road Bikes, Grass, Moto X, Quads with the lower CC’s going first.

ALL RIDERS MUST ATTEND THE RIDERS BRIEFING AND THE PRACTICE SESSION. Practice is 4 laps, then 5 races of 4 lap duration. This may vary from meeting to meeting as we are dictated by the tide and any unforeseen stoppages. For example, the last round could be reduced to 3 laps or we may stop after 4 rounds.

Classes line up with the front wheel against the elastic cord. The starter will release the elastic. Sidecars start line will be from turn 3. The starter will raise a flag to signal the start.

Mablethorpe Sandracing may without notice terminate a member’s membership if a member is in breach of any of the conditions or rules and also entitled to terminate membership immediately in the event of: – Misuse of membership number, non-adherence to Mablethorpe Sandracing rules, refusal to comply with the instructions of

Mablethorpe Sandracing officials in relation to policy, procedures or safety, inappropriate behaviour towards members of staff or fellow competitors. All members must be prepared to accept full responsibility for the conduct of their guests ie. family, friends and mechanics.

Exiting the beach, all vehicles must remain on the beach until signalled by the Marshall to go. This will be one at a time. Any vehicle that gets stuck will be removed before another vehicle can go.

Clothing

In all races and practice the correct clothing MUST be worn. Consisting of knee length motorcycle competition boots, motorcycle gloves, goggles and an approved quality helmet MUST be worn at all times. Body armour, elbow and knee pads are recommended. All helmets MUST be presented with the machine at scrutineering. The word of the scrutineer is final.

Running of Engines

The running of engines is NOT permitted until after the initial riders briefing prior to practice and then only for a five-minute period prior to each practice/race. When a practice/race has been completed machines MUST be taken back to the pits and remain there. Failure to do so may result in exclusion from the meeting.

Throttles and Cut-outs

Lanyard cut-outs MUST be fitted to all Quads, Sidecars and Grass bikes on throttle side. Road bike and Moto X classes WILL NOT require a lanyard cut-out, BUT a working stop button must be fitted.

All throttles must be of twist grip type and self-returning on all solo machines. Thumb type throttles may be used on Quads and Trikes as per manufacturer’s specifications.

Practice and race area

Any rider using their machine (or permitting same) to be ridden outside the permitted area as designated by the clerk of the course will be disqualified from the meeting. This applies to any area other than the warm up area and the track area. ANY CONCRETE AREAS INCLUDING THE PROMENADE, STEPS, CONCRETE OUTFALL AND NORTH OF THE OUTFALL ARE OUT OF BOUNDS.

HELMETS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES WHEN ON THE MACHINE. Failure to comply will result in automatic disqualification.

Penalties

Any deliberate shortening or lengthening of the circuit to gain an advantage, deliberate clipping of markers/cones will mean loss of points for that race. NO WARNING, Marshall’s/Officials report is final. This rule also applies to stakes and ropes, unless unavoidable in the event of an accident, or to avoid a fallen rider.

Any rider seen to deliberately force another rider into the ropes or markers shall lose their points for that event, or be disqualified from the meeting, subject to the gravity of the incident.

 Testing of machines

If anyone unavoidably misses their practice, they can test their machine at the discretion of the clerk of the course in an appropriate class after.

Children under age, none members, are NOT allowed to ride about on the beach. Fun bikes etc are not allowed. Any member allowing this to take place by any member of their family or friends shall be penalised, the entrant shall be fully responsible for their good conduct and behaviour and must ensure they adhere to our rules.

 

RIDER NUMBERS.

Your numbers must be CLEAR and VISIBLE on the front and left side of the machine. Black numbers on white background or White numbers on black background are preferred. Numbers are available to buy at sign on. 

 

PERMITTED ADDITIONAL CLASSES

ROAD BIKE CLASSES

Upto 200cc Road can enter additional class of Upto 300cc and Upto 400cc road only.

Upto 300cc Road can enter additional class of Upto 400cc and Unlimited road.

Upto 400cc Road can enter additional class of Unlimited road.

MX CLASSES

Upto 150cc 2 stroke MX can enter additional class of Upto 250cc 2 stroke only.

Upto 250 4 stroke AND Upto 250 2 stroke can enter additional class of Unlimited MX.

MACHINES MUST MEET BOTH CLASS REGULATIONS. 

 

 

Signing on

Sign on will take place in MR G’s Cafe on the seafront. All bikes must be taken to be Technical Inspection to check they meet class rules. Mablethorpe sandracing competitors are NOW required to present a fire extinguisher at Technical Inspection.

Competitors will not be able to sign on after practice starts (clerk of the course discretion). Only if a competitors machine breaks down in practice and is unable to be ridden for the remainder of the event, will a partial race entry fee for that event be carried forward to the next meeting. If the competitor is unable to attend the following meeting, NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN.

Competitors that enter an event and fail to attent the event WILL NOT have their entry fee carried forward. NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN.

Flags

  • GREEN – Ready to start race.
  • YELLOW – Slow down, NO OVERTAKING.
  • YELLOW & BLACK CROSS – Last lap.
  • CHEQUERED – Finish.
  • RED – Stop racing.

After the chequered flag is shown, continue round the track and exit to the pit area at turn 3.

YOU MUST NOT CONTINUE PAST THE RED FLAG ON TURN 3 IF YOU ARE A LAPPED RIDER.

NOTE – ANY RIDER SEEN TO DELIBERATELY IGNORE A FLAG SIGNAL OF ANY KIND WILL BE PENALISED.

Awards

1st, 2nd and 3rd in all classes.

Trophies won on the day will be given out in the sign on café on the seafront after the race meeting has finised.

Points

Points awarded on every race are 8-6-4-3-2-1, all riders who finish will get 1 point irrespective of been lapped. Collective points from each race will be carried forward to the overall senior and junior championship. Points awarded on the day for class championship are 8-6-4-3-2-1, all rider who raced will get 1 point.

Points scored in an additional class WILL NOT count towards the overall senior championship.

Double points will be awarded at the last meeting.

The Boxing day trophy race meeting will be 19th JAN 2025. To qualify You must of entered at least of the race meetings before this one.

It is not permissible to ride a machine not designated for that class.

Notice

Mablethorpe Sandracing will not be held responsible for any damage or loss of property whilst attending the race meeting. This also applies to the recovery of stranded vehicles.
